Support for teens who feels stuck, overwhelmed, or alone
Does your teen seem constantly worried, stressed, or overwhelmed?
Have they become harder on themselves, even when they're doing their best?
Do they struggle to fit in, trust others, or feel understood by the people around them?
Have they not bounced back after a stressful life, school, or family experience?
If this sounds familiar, therapy can provide a space where your teen doesn't have to carry everything on their own.
On the outside, your teen may appear successful, independent, or capable.
On the inside, they may be struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, loneliness, grief, or the lingering effects of painful experiences.
Common Reasons Teens Come To Therapy:
Anxiety and chronic worry
Depression and low self-esteem
Friendship and relationship struggles
Academic stress or perfectionism
ADHD or Autism-related challenges
Chronic illness and health-related stress
Shame and self-criticism
Trauma and difficult life experiences
Being a teenager can feel overwhelming. Between school, friendships, family expectations, social pressures, identity exploration, and planning for the future, many teens carry far more stress than the adults around them realize.
Many teens develop ways of coping that help them survive difficult experiences but leave them feeling stuck later on. They may avoid situations that feel uncomfortable, hide parts of themselves, overthink every interaction, or struggle to trust others.
Therapy Helps Teens Feel More Confident and Connected
Supportive talk therapy gives teens a safe, non-judgmental place to express thoughts and emotions they may not feel comfortable sharing elsewhere. This can help teens:
Learn practical tools for managing anxiety and overwhelming emotions
Improve communication skills and relationships
Process grief, loss, and life transitions
Gain insight into patterns that keep them feeling stuck
Many teens find relief simply from having a space where they can be fully themselves without fear of judgment.
EMDR Therapy for Teens in Dallas
Sometimes coping skills and insight alone aren't enough. When painful experiences, trauma, rejection, bullying, relationship wounds, or other difficult events remain unresolved, the nervous system can continue reacting as though the threat is still present.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy helps the brain and body process experiences that feel "stuck." Rather than repeatedly talking through painful memories, EMDR helps the brain naturally reprocess them so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity.
By combining EMDR therapy with supportive coping strategies, treatment addresses both the emotional and nervous system patterns that may be keeping your teen stuck.
With EMDR many teens experience:
→Reduced anxiety
→Feel less triggered by reminders of past experiences
→More ease in relationships
→Feeling more present and connected in daily life
→Relief from shame and feeling emotionally overwhelmed
Meet your Dallas teen therapist
Hi! I’m Krista Bass, a Licensed Master Social Worker (supervised by Michelle Spurgeon, LCSW-S) who helps teens navigate anxiety, trauma, identity questions, or feeling stuck. I provide a warm, affirming, and non-judgmental space where teens can feel safe being themselves.
When it’s difficult to show up fully in their day-to-day life at school, with friends, or at home- your teen doesn’t have to figure this out alone. Therapy offers a space where teens can slow down, make sense of what they're experiencing, and begin building a healthier relationship with themselves and others.
My goal is not to "fix" your teen. Instead, therapy helps them better understand themselves, feel more confident navigating challenges, and develop a deeper sense of self-worth. She understands that every teen's experience is unique and believes healing happens when people feel seen, heard, and accepted exactly as they are.

Many parents seek therapy when they notice changes in mood, increased anxiety, withdrawal from friends or family, academic struggles, low self-esteem, emotional outbursts, or difficulty coping with stress. Therapy can also be helpful before problems become overwhelming.

Signs of anxiety in teens can include excessive worry, irritability, perfectionism, difficulty sleeping, avoidance of certain situations, physical symptoms such as headaches or stomachaches, and feeling overwhelmed by school or social situations.
Therapy can help teens understand and manage anxiety before it begins significantly affecting daily life.

EMDR therapy is an evidence-based treatment that can be highly effective for teens who have experienced trauma, bullying, difficult life events, grief, anxiety, or experiences that continue to feel emotionally overwhelming. EMDR helps the brain process experiences so they no longer feel as distressing in the present.

If your teen is younger than 17 years old, then the first intake appointment will be with the parents or guardians, followed the next week by a teen initial session. If your teen is 17 or older, Krista will meet with the teen first, and schedule a parent intake at a later date.
Parent consultations are a part of the treatment plan for your tween or teen. These will be scheduled every 4-6 sessions with your teen’s therapist. Maintaining your teen’s trust and confidentiality is our top priority. We also recognize that many parents have questions about how to best help, or may benefit from learning more about the skills and strategies that work for your teen.

This is a common concern. Many teens feel unsure about therapy at first. Building trust and creating a safe, comfortable environment is an important part of the process. Therapy works best when teens feel respected, heard, and actively involved in their own care.
-
The first session focuses on getting to know your teen, understanding what brings them to therapy, and creating a space where they feel comfortable. There is no pressure to share everything immediately. Building trust and safety is an important part of the therapeutic process.

Yes. Therapy is an affirming, non-judgmental space where teens can explore questions related to identity, relationships, self-acceptance, and belonging while feeling respected and supported.

Krista’s fee is $150 per 50-minute-session.
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. Many of the clients I work with choose private-pay therapy intentionally because it allows for a more personalized, flexible, and confidential therapy experience — especially when working on anxiety rooted in deeper patterns or past experiences.
While I don’t participate in insurance panels, I can provide a superbill upon request that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan.
