Consultant-in-Training Cohort

Certified EMDR therapists becoming consultants

  • 1 spot open in CIT cohort starting May 11, 2026, 3 max CITs

  • 2nd Monday every month 9:30am-11am CT on Zoom (5/11, 6/8, 7/13, 8/10, 9/14, 10/12, 11/9, 12/14)

  • 9 remaining cohort meetings providing 9 hours group consultation + 4.5 individual consultation hours

  • $115/group (additional individual consultation available)

    • This group is for those who can commit to the entire cohort schedule. You will build community as you develop consultation skills, reinforce your EMDR foundation, and learn the business and marketing strategies for your consultation business. This is not a drop-in CIT group.

EMDR Certification Cohort

Trained EMDR therapists seeking Certification

  • 5 month cohort will provide 10 hours group consultation that count towards your certification starting June 15 , 2026

  • 3rd Monday every month 9:30am-11:30am CT on Zoom (6/15, 7/20, 8/17, 9/21, 10/19)

  • Monthly investment: $125

  • This group is for those who can commit to developing stronger confidence and competency in EMDR, and who want to do so in a community. Max of 6 therapists to allow space for your individual consultation questions. This is not a drop in group. You will be charged monthly regardless of attendance.

Hi! I’m Michelle Spurgeon- a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor & an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. I can help therapists improve their skill or pursue EMDRIA Certification or EMDRIA Approved Consultant status.

EMDR Consultation can be helpful for therapists working with trauma, anxiety, or abuse recovery to find support for case consultation or to strengthen their therapeutic skills. I’m offering this through cohorts- closed group consultation that allows you to build community, your clinical skills, and business strategy as an EMDR therapist or EMDR Consultant-in-Training. Clinical consultation is also available for private practice therapists or owners who would benefit from collaboration.

      Michelle currently serves adults in Dallas, TX and via telehealth in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and Virginia. She offers EMDR Intensives and specializes in offering EMDR Intensives to therapists. In addition to EMDR, Michelle is trained in DBT and in Perinatal Mental Health. Frequently Asked Questions about EMDR Consultation

  • Participants who have completed EMDRIA-Approved Basic Training (including 10 hours of consultation) are eligible to join. Participants can use EMDR consultation towards EMDRIA Certification, or to enhance their use of EMDR with peer consultation. I work with fully licensed therapists or associates (LPC-A, LMSW, etc) as long as you are under clinical license supervision plans and have completed EMDRIA-Approved Basic Training.  I offer afree intro callto answer questions and see if we are a good fit. I can work through individual or a group cohort for certification.

  • I provide consultation of consultation for EMDR Certified Therapist pursuing their Approved Consultant status. This is provided in individual consultation or group format. A new cohort group is starting April 2026 for Consultant-in-Trainings seeking their Approved Consultant. Join the waitlist for future groups.

    EMDRIA recently revised standards for the CIT process and new CITS can complete their Declaration Form with the new standards in April 2026. CITs who filed their letter of intent prior to this change will continue with current requirements. I offer afree intro call to answer questions and see if we are a good fit.

    Updated Requirements for CITs:

    • Minimum of 1 year as a CIT before upgrading to Approved Consultant

    • 20 hours of consultation of consultation- minimum of 10 individual hours of consultation (by an EMDRIA Approved Consultant- like me!)

    • Provide consultation to at least 5 consultees- minimum of 15 consultation hours

    • Meet the EMDRIA requirements of facilitating EMDR therapy at least 300 hours with at least 75 clients

    Complete 12 hours of EMDRIA Approved CEUs- including specific EMDRIA Consultant coursesAdditional information is provided onEMDRIA Website.
